Giddy Up Ay-Up! June 30, 2009

I’ve been sitting in front of my computer checking the status of my package from Australia – a set of Ay-Up mountainbiking lights..

Mmm.. aren’t they pretty?! (I’ve got a pink one coming, Scotty’s got a gold one..).

As far as I can tell, they left Australia on the 25th, into Customs on the 26th. Sat around all weekend, then went to TNT in Auckland on Monday, got charged GST, I paid GST, now they’re “in transit”. So now I’m twiddling my thumbs and waiting patiently for them to arrive.

On the upside, they should be here in a couple of days. Which means that last night’s night-ride was the last with the big heavy SLA battery and ghetto home-made light. Good bye 4.5kg light system, and hello to one that weighs less than 200g (for the light AND battery!). It was a pretty fun ride too – sliding around in the mud and riding up on the Otago Peninsula in what might have been rain.. or was it snow? .. hard to tell! Gotta love riding in Dunedin in the winter-time!
